Yesterday I had the most amazing experience. As I sit here trying to package it up into the most perfect words for a blog, I am left almost speechless. How do you describe that moment when you realize THIS is exactly what you were meant to do in life, and THIS is just the beginning?

I am extremely passionate and throw myself full force into everything I do. I'm also a perfectionist and I'm really, really hard on myself. It's a blessing and a curse. To have the opportunity to go on CHCH, the major TV station where we live, was HUGE. Naturally, I wanted it to be PERFECT.
I did my research. I was prepared to promote my extensive education in both nursing and fitness. I was prepared to talk about my exact online program, and how it is completely different that any other program out there. I couldn't wait to talk about how my classes are done to music and it's an experience. It's not just passing along simple moves that most "at-home" trainers do, or sharing the same workouts that get old like most "boxed DVD programs" offer. As I sat in the green room with Eric and Oliver waiting to meet Tim, the CHCH news anchor, and get miked up. I was SO READY!
I knew instantly as I shook Tim's hand, we'd get along famously. He greeted me with a big smile, shook my hand, and I liked his energy! We talked a bit about babies, Oliver, working out after having a baby, and that he was expecting his first child with his wife any day now! He then smiled at me and said, "Let's do some moves (when we go on set). Make me sweat, girl, have fun!"
Wait.. what? I thought we were talking about my online program. At first panic set in, but then I had that turning point moment. I got this. This IS what I DO, and I KNOW I do it well! The producer came and ushered me onto the set. Moves, OK.. Moves. I can do that. I thought. Lord, help me, but just be yourself, Lisa, and everything will be fine!
The segment went AWESOME. Why? I took Tim's exact advice. I had fun! In that moment, I didn't try to be someone else. I didn't try to wow anyone with my knowledge. I wasn't afraid to just speak off the cuff, and show my personality. I had no idea that he was going to reference to our pre-live session conversation about Oliver and getting back into teaching eight weeks after having a C-section and putting myself out there; but I'm glad he did. So many times we hold ourselves back because we are afraid of what people will think. We are afraid of what people will say. We are afraid to fail. We compare ourselves to others, and we get an idea in our head of "what we should be."

I truly believe, you can NEVER fail when being yourself! Figure out what makes you, uniquely you, and tap into that in every aspect of your life. What's YOUR story? Some amazing things can happen when we stop being so critical of ourselves and simply enjoy the process. The only voice and the only words that are truly important, are the ones we say to ourselves.
